Chocolate Chili baked donuts
Whiskers,
My second post in a day!! That hasn't happened like ever!! But due to the fact they are both donut posts I want to get them posted so people can enjoy them on the holidays. So for my second flavor of donut, I knew I wanted something chocolaty and I'm just a sucker for spice, I love spice in just about anything. The chili shows up half way through the bite and is quite prominent. I find it balances out the sweetness of the chocolate icing and the bitterness of the cocoa in the batter. We had some chocolate icing in the fridge from when my brother made my dad a birthday cake, so I thinned it out with milk and dunked the donuts in before sprinkling them with sprinkles.Because who likes chocolate donuts without cute little sprinkles. Another easy on my feet, relatively healthy, and super fast recipe for some awesome chocolate chili baked donuts. Let's get whisking.
Prep time: 10 minutes
Baking time: 12 minutes
Makes: 12 mini donuts
Ingredients:
1 cup flour
1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa
1/2 cup buttermilk
1/2 cup sugar
1 large egg
2 tablespoons melted butter
1 teaspoon chili powder
1 teaspoon vanilla
How To:
1. Preheat the oven to 350 and grease your pan
2.In a large bowl whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, chili powder, baking soda, and salt.
3.In a separate bowl, mix together the buttermilk, sugar, egg, butter and vanilla until well combined.
4. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. The mixture should be pretty thick.
5. Fill a Ziploc bag with batter.Snip off corner and pipe into donut tins.
6.Bake for about 12 minutes.Check on them as them being chocolate it will be harder to see them burn.
7. Remove from oven and let cool on wire rack. Then ice with your go-to chocolate icing and sprinkles.
Enjoy these not so run of the mill donuts, surprise with an ice cold glass of milk as every donut should. These are a great alternative to the basic donut and surprise all your friends with a new easy twist to chocolate.
Till next time.Keep whisking up love, peace, and happiness to those around you.
